We are pleased to announce that the Historical Society has now emerged from hibernation with our presence at the Rowlands Castle Village Fair. We would like to thank the Church on the Green for hosting us together with the Heritage Centre’s model railway and part of Ted Redsull’s extensive photo collection. We used the opportunity to announce our planned 2021/22 programme of talks and visits and also the commencement of our oral history project, the first interview for which is about to take place very soon. Visitors were able to see our board display about Rowlands Castle’s Motte and Bailey castle and an updated series of aerial photos showing how the village has changed since 1946.
It was an excellent opportunity to get reacquainted with existing members and to meet new faces in the village and made an enjoyable but tiring day.
